Jonathon Redwood

Johnathon RedwoodJonathon Redwood is available to appear and advise in all areas of commercial, banking and finance, insurance, trade practices, corporate and securities, private international law, constitutional law and international commercial arbitration in all Australian courts and tribunals. He has a broad national practice and is a member of Banco Chambers and Ninian Stephen Chambers. He has over 15 years of legal experience as a barrister and lawyer.

He has experience in many Australian courts and tribunals, including several appeals in the High Court of Australia. He has developed  particular expertise in international commercial arbitration and has been engaged by a number of major law firms to appear and advise in several large international arbitrations, included a number where the seat of the arbitration is in Singapore. He has acted as under arbitrator under the ACICA Rules.

Jonathon was ranked first in his class in Law at the University of Adelaide and was awarded the University Medal. He completed a Master of Laws (Gammon Fellow) at Harvard University as Australia’s Sir Robert Menzies scholar to Harvard for 1998.

Before joining the Bar, Jonathon was a Senior Associate at the preeminent international banking & finance law firm, Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, in New York (and Melbourne/Sydney) from 1999-2005. He also served as associate to Chief Justice John Doyle AC, Supreme Court of South Australia from February 1997 to July 1998.

Jonathon has been a Senior Fellow at Melbourne Law School where he taught Securities Regulation and Banking & Finance from 2006-2008. He in a part-time lecturer in International Arbitration at Sydney University Law School. Jonathon read with Christopher Caleo S.C. and is a reporter for the Commonwealth Law Reports. He was junior counsel representing Local Government in the Victorian Bushfires Royal Commission.

He is also an active member of a member of the English Bar (lincoln's Inn) and the New York Bar. He is a door tenant at 3 Stone Buildings in London and New York.
